Last summer, I volunteered in an orphanage in Katmandhu (mid-life crisis!) There were 54 girls, aged 4-15; some were orphaned by AIDS, others in the Maoist rebellions and some of the girls were there because their parents were in prison and no-one else would look after them because of the stigma, lack of resources etc. The orphanage gave them a caring home, a place in school and training for when they left school.

Not having the time or funds to do the same again, I nevertheless want to continue to help the local NGO which organised my placement, Hope & Home.

So I am using this forum to invite YOU to invite ME to local fairs, galas, craft show, coffee mornings etc. I have some high quality hand-made paper products, made in Nepal, for sale - cards, lampshades, wrapping paper, photo albums and frames, gift boxes etc. I could also provide a slideshow about the work of the particular orphanage I was in.
